Instructions
This exercise is taken from a study by Leo Brouwer ("20 easy studies", study 20). It's built on the E minor pentatonic scale, in first position.
Make sure to keep an even tone on every note, whether picked, hammered-on or pulled-off, and keep the sixteenth notes nice and steady.
The study is played fast (around 135 to the quarter note) but start slowly and only increase the tempo once you feel relaxed. The movements need to become automatic.
Each pattern should be looped.Exercice du même type :

Exercice 1
The study consists of a single pattern that gradually gets more complex. Start slowly with this two-beat pattern. You could easily play this study with a single finger, but try the fingering suggested in the score, which is the 2nd finger on the D string and the 3rd finger on the G string.
Exercice 2
Now we add the B string. The fingering suggested in the study is 2nd finger on the D string, 3rd on the G string, and 4th on the B string.
Exercice 3
In the next step, we add the high E string, and the fingering shifts.
Exercice 4
The study ends with this long phrase, which starts with a legato run down the minor pentatonic scale. Loop the phrase carefully without losing the rhythm.
