Instructions

Here's an exercise that will let you play 4 positions of the major scale diagonally along the neck. Learning the major scale this way is great for gaining fluidity and playing scales while breaking the habits picked up with the classic box shapes.

The pattern is the same for all 4 exercises: 3 notes on one string, then 4 notes with a slide onto the last one when going down, and conversely a slide from the first to the second note when going up. 

Practicing with the metronome is strongly recommended.

Aim for a tempo of 60bpm to the quarter note (4 notes per beat) at first, then increase once you really feel comfortable with all 4 exercises.
