Instructions

This right-hand warm-up combines alternate picking with string skipping over barred major chord shapes. It's inspired by an exercise from John Petrucci's "Rock Discipline" method.

The left hand moves along the neck following the circle of fifths from A to Bb. The different steps of the exercise involve doubling the pick strokes on each note.

Start slowly to clearly articulate each movement. You can gradually increase the tempo to work on the precision of your pick strokes.

After playing through all the exercises, one possible variation is to reverse the pick strokes, starting with an upstroke.
