Spider series #1 - finger independence and stretching
Instructions
Spider exercises help develop finger independence, left/right hand synchronization, and are also an excellent way to warm up or start a practice session.
These two exercises mainly target finger independence. They may seem difficult at first, but with a bit of practice you should get used to the small movements and gain more flexibility in your left hand.
Work with a metronome and only speed up once you feel comfortable and are no longer making mistakes.
Warning: for the first exercise, make sure to keep the fingers whose notes aren't being played resting on the strings!
Exercice 1
For this spider exercise, make sure to move only one finger at a time; the fingers whose notes aren't being played should stay in place. Start very slowly and focus on clean playing.
Exercice 2
This spider exercise develops hand synchronization and finger dexterity - here too, start slowly and keep it clean.
